Any time you plant a potted is water. Without the water, the plant will perish.

Water is the lifeblood of the American West and the foundation of its economy. It can also be the scarcest resource in some of the fastest growing areas of the country. As one looks at different parts of the USA, the Department of Interior has already selected key parts of the US and designated them as hot spots where there will become water shortages. Since over 60% of the average water bill is for the preservation of the home or business landscape, any product that makes an impact in this water crisis will be a saviour.

With major Cities such as San Antonio passing legislation for 4 inches of soil to be Splaced prior to laying new sod for the sole purpose of reducing irrigation needs. Other cities and water districts putting on watering restrictions for odd or even day or even 1 time per week watering, the value of real estate will tumble without a lush landscape.

There are many new technologies on the horizon all designed to help save water. Most of which are mechanical in nature such as capturing rainwater and gray water and recycling that water into the landscape. Presently the direction to ward off this water crisis is to steer the public from lush landscapes to xeriscapes utilizing drought tolerant plants. I guess the biggest question to answer is if you could have a lush landscape instead of a drought tolerant landscape and the amount of water required for each is the same would you choose the drought tolerant landscape or the lush landscape.
